Simply put, our goal here at The Nature of Neurodiversity is to explore and share the nature of neurodiversity through support, education, and advocacy.
We collaboratively support families and clients struggling with daily tasks and meaningful activities through direct occupational therapy services or consultation. We educate families, clients, and healthcare providers about neurodivergences and their inherent beauty. Advocacy happens when we encourage others to use neurodiversity-affirming principles and acknowledge and fight against the systemic factors at play limiting the acceptance, health, and overall well-being of neurodivergent individuals.
The Nature of Neurodiversity was created out of:
Feelings of defeat because autistic children continue to be referred to services the autistic community has deemed traumatic.
A desire to change the healthcare system because the healthcare statistics for autistic adults are dismal.
A desire to unapologetically provide neurodiversity affirming care.
